I can’t put him down. A friend of my lent me Trainspotting (Thanks, Rich) and when I finished, I ran to the bookstore to find Porno. It was a quick read, so no I am into Glue, which I will probably finish by the end of the week.

The characters are great, albeit not too nice all the time, and the stories are fantastic. Great work Irvine.

Here is an example of something I wrote at 43 places.

Growing up in Wilmington was just that. I guess when you grow up in just one place, you never really have much to compare it to. I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil now and when I tell people I am from Wilmington, which has but 12,000 folks, they give me a look of grief, like “poor fucker”. Whatever, its not like I had a choice or anything.

My best days were spent with friends, looking to do something and not catching heat for it. Road trips and bonfires were always number one on my list. Sounds “country” and I guess it is, but it was what we had to do. I wonder if I would like my kids to grow up there or at least live there someday. I know they would be safer than they are here in SP, but I don’t know I would want them to think the rest of the world was like that. I guess I have this memory of Wilmington that could only be compared to the towns of Andy Griffith and that one from the Truman Show.

Anyway, I like to visit my family and see old friends in Wilmington. I wouldn’t suggest it as a tourist place, but if you want to spend some time with the locals, its not too bad.
