Fotoflexer says they incorporate their own artificial intelligence algorithm to figure out the right way to alter images. And whatever it is they’re doing, it works. For hardcore image manipulation, desktop software like Photoshop will always have its place, but online editors are free, easy to use and a lot of fun.

Why Being Yourself Matters

August 28, 2007

There will never be anyone else like you in the future of the universe. There has never been anyone exactly like you since human life began. That’s why being yourself is more important than anything else; certainly more than the fear that traps people into conforming….

irvine_cartoon.jpgIrvine Welsh is my newest paperback addiction. I can’t put him down. A friend of my lent me Trainspotting (Thanks, Rich) and when I finished, I ran to the bookstore to find Porno. It was a quick read, so no I am into Glue, which I will probably finish by the end of the week.

The characters are great, albeit not too nice all the time, and the stories are fantastic. Great work Irvine.

Here is an example of something I wrote at 43 places

Growing up in Wilmington was just that. I guess when you grow up in just one place, you never really have much to compare it to. I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil now and when I tell people I am from Wilmington, which has but 12,000 folks, they give me a look of grief, like “poor fucker”. Whatever, its not like I had a choice or anything.

My best days were spent with friends, looking to do something and not catching heat for it. Road trips and bonfires were always number one on my list. Sounds “country” and I guess it is, but it was what we had to do. I wonder if I would like my kids to grow up there or at least live there someday. I know they would be safer than they are here in SP, but I don’t know I would want them to think the rest of the world was like that. I guess I have this memory of Wilmington that could only be compared to the towns of Andy Griffith and that one from the Truman Show.

Anyway, I like to visit my family and see old friends in Wilmington. I wouldn’t suggest it as a tourist place, but if you want to spend some time with the locals, its not too bad.

Monkeys and Humans

August 3, 2007

I just came by a really interesting study by some guys at UCLA. Take a look:

Monkeys Learn in the Same Way as Humans, Psychologists Report

Monkeys seem to learn the same way humans do, a new research study indicates. “Like humans, monkeys benefit enormously from being actively involved in learning instead of having information presented to them passively,” said Nate Kornell, a UCLA postdoctoral scholar in psychology and lead author of the study, which appears in the August issue of the journal Psychological Science. “The advantage of active learning appears to be a fundamental property of memory in …go to this article
